Syntor X9000 6 meter R7.11 and V8.01.00

Post by W2MB »

When I attempt to enter a frequency above 53mhz using the latest RSS I get an outside limit error and cannot enter it. Can 6 meter ham frequencies be programmed with this latest version of the RSS? Also, I assume that the control head RSS isn't affected as no freqency info is used, is that correct? The radio I have was programmed for me, but I am interested in correcting errors in 2 of the modes myself.

There is a ham version of the software floating around that will allow you to program in the 6 meter repeater frequencies. The limitation is that you only get the first 64 channels in the scan lists you make up. It will also allow more than the normal 12 multi PL tones to be put into the multi PL list. It will allow you to go up to 32.

Can anyone verify the version number of the RSS needed to program a Syntor X9000 above 53mHz, as I mentioned I have the latest version and it won't allow it.

I've been able to answer my own question. For future reference to anyone interested, the RSS version needed to program a lowband Syntor X9000 for 6 meter amateur operation is:

Syntor X9000 Radio Programmer Special Ham Version: 5.02.00 04-Apr-89

It does require a "slower" computer than the latest Version V8.01.00.

I think there is a ham version of the RSS that allows more modes to scan. I think it is a version 6.something_SP1. Not 100% sure though.

I checked and the version is R.00.00.SP and allows 255 modes, 32 mpl, and a very large scan list.

There are several SP's for the x9000.

Off the top of my head..

SP01 - Dual Radio HHCH
SP02 - ?????
SP03 - Dual Radio Systems 9000 (Control Head)
SP04 - Dual Radio Systems 9000 (Drawer)
SP05 - 128 Channel
SP06 - Dual Radio Systems 9000 with Spectra Receiver (TX and/or Washington DPS I think)
SP07 - 255 Channel?

I want to say there is a SP99 but don't recall.

Texas DPS never used these. They used standard configuration X9000s with the siren kit, went from that to W9 Astro Spectras (and W3s for the Criminal Law Enforcement guys), and are now using XTL5000s with the W9 heads carried over.

edit: SP99 was the receive-only version, per the Batlabs main page.

Yep, correct. For some reason I though Texas had some, but oh well :)
