XTS3000 Pinouts
I'm looking for the schematic that will allow just a DB9 serial connector to read an XTS3000. If possible, I'll strip the wires needed and tape them on to the side of the radio so I can read/write the radio. I have ordered a cable but it's not here yet, i'm wondering if I can just make my own cable until it shows up.
Schrodinger's Radio: It is simultaneously too loud and too quiet, but you will never know which until someone transmits.

Re: XTS3000 Pinouts
The XTS3000 programs with a RIB, so if you insist on taping wires to the radio the other end would be a DB25.
To avoid possibly messing up your radio, I would recommend that you be patient and wait for the correct cable
to arrive and make the connection properly.
If what you are waiting for is something called a "ribless" cable please be careful. These aftermarket items are famous
for intermittent and otherwise unsatisfactory operation.

Listen to the above posters! Don't try taping the wires to the side of the radio in haste. If one of the wires
comes loose while the codeplug is being loaded it may mess up your radio or brick it!
As for the ribless cables, I bought one of them off Ebay and it works great. I've had no problems
using it right off the COM 1 port (DB9) on an older PC running DOS/WIN98 and RSS software in a
DOS environment. It also works fine running newer CPS R05.02.xx from my fairly new Dell
machine direct from the COM1 port. But where I do have issues is running R05.02.00 CPS from a
USB to Serial/DB9 'dongle'. I cannot read or write to a radio when I use the same ribless cable and
the dongle via my laptop or newer Dell PC.
