CP185 Priority Scan Issue

Post by Disp46 »

Anyone else experiencing any problems with the Priority Scan not working in the Motorola CP185. I have a VHF model and have enabled the Priority scan in CPS and the radio still does not scan with priority to the channel set as priority. I have sent the radio in for warranty repair and it is approaching the 2 month mark and Motorola says it isn't shipping due to a parts hold. Seems to me that Priority Scan is a firmware issue and not a parts issue. Any ideas?

Just an update on this matter... apparently Motorola's definition of Priority Scan in the CP185 is not the conventional Priority Scan we have become used to over the years. While this radio will scan the priority channel 50% more often than a regular channel in the scan list, that is all it does. This model radio will not sample for activity on the priority channel if scan has stopped for activity on a non-priority channel.

I think your understanding about this issue is incorrect. This CP185 radio should able to do priority scan sampling during landed scan state or on active scan hang time on non-priority channel. However you might expect a delay for priority channel to unmute if other carrier exist together. Make sure the scan type is priority scan.
