CPS R05.12 and Windows 7

Post by arlojanis »

I tried to install CPS R05.12 on my new laptop that has Windows 7 Premium home edition. I got the error "need X86 (32 bit) or 64X (64 bit) version. Is such a version available? Will there be problems with most of the radio software like Pro CPS and MTR ?

R05.12 of what CPS? Most of the CPS versions out there will not play nice with Win7...
The bandsplit is only a suggestion.

Run XP in virtual mode in Windows 7 and install CPS 5.12 that way and it will work fine. I did it with mine and it works perfectly. I have programmed dozens of radios. If you have a 64Bit machine good luck getting the USB cable to work, I am using a serial cable with a PCMCIA adapter on mine.

Ok, I see how to download XP virtual mode. How do I switch between Windows 7 and XP virtual mode?

Once you install it correctly, look for "Virtual PC" or "Microsoft Virtual PC" in your start menu or desktop.
