I've really picked up the 900mhz bug so I've picked up quite a few radios around to get programmed up on ham frequencies.
Borrowed a programming PC and I'm afraid I might've just bricked one of the radios. Using Version R02.00.01 RSS with the mdf file edited for ham bands. Programming 6 of these things with the same frequencies is a major pain in the ass, so I wanted to see if I could clone one to a few more. Selected Get/Save Menu, Clone (Copy) Codeplug and told it to continue. It read the codeplug (which was already good programmed radio) from the radio, then immediately wrote the codeplug back to the same radio without prompting me to swap them out.
Now that radio has open squelch on all the programmed channels in the radio. I've attempted to read and re-write them however nothing seems to fix the issue. Did I just brick one of my club members radios or screw up the codeplug somehow? We have several of the same model radios available which are all in good working order.
Help??

Wow, Really? Nobody has ever experienced this or knows how to rectify it??
Re: GTX900 mobile on Ham bands
The squelch is adjustable via the Service menu. When set to zero, the squelch will be open. It will be closed at just about every other setting. If that got messed up, it's possible that all the other alignment settings got changed as well. If playing with this field does not make the radio squelch up, then you need to go further.
The VCO may not be locking up on the frequencies you've programmed it to. The open squelch may be the radio's way of telling you it's not happy, although this has never happened to me.
The radio can probably be revived by blanking and initializing it with other programs. This requires you to be able to read an existing code plug that must be loaded into the radio. If the versions are different, you may not be able to read the code plug to load back into the radio. The radio will need to be completely aligned after this procedure.

Re: GTX900 mobile on Ham bands
I forgot to reply with an update to what I found inside his radio.. Hate leaving a topic open without the solution!!
Finally went to check everything inside the service menu to find all values were blanked out!! No wonder!
Copied the values from another radio codeplug and wrote them to test, then performed a full alignment and viola! Thanks Bob and others who helped!!
Now if I could just figure out why his mic gain is so low... Simplex is VERY hard to hear him with an amplified speaker and the volume at 11.
