XTS2500 MDC List

Post by Spiffy50 »

Hey gang. I have a VHF XTS2500 that I'm looking to set up an MDC Call List. However, it seems that I can only program 50 IDs in per list? I need to have about 150 of them on the same system. Is this possible, and any idea how?

Thats the limit. No way around it. You can set up multiple lists but each personality can only be assigned one list.

Wow. Pretty sad an HT1250 can do more than an XTS, in terms of MDC anyway. What do large departments do that wish to alias their radios?

I don't think many depts do that. The XTS5000 will do up to 100 I think.

I just checked on my UHF 5k. I can only program 50 MDC Call Aliases. Odd considering a few of their other radios can do a heck of a lot more (I have an HT1250 that has around 100.) Is it something that is flashcode dependent? I have fairly new (V13) firmware, so I doubt that would be it. I guess I'll have to live with it. Not the end of the world I suppose, thanks for the quick answer!

If your 5000 only does 50 and your firmware is 13 it probably wasn't firmware upgraded the proper way with an I Button. A proper firmware upgrade does other things such as upgrading the codeplug (adding additional codeplug features that are not flashcode controlled) wbereas the improper method of upgrade does not do anything except the firmware.

I hope it was done properly. I had it upflashed by a Motorola dealer outside of Toronto. Cost me around $100 to get it done too. After the upflash, I had to use CPS 13 or newer (I'm using 14). Previous to the upflash, I was using CPS 9. Either way, I've resigned myself to the fact that this radio just won't do more than 50. Horrible thinking on Motorola's part, that's for certain.
