PM400 scan list select

Post by triode833a »

I want to add additional scan lists to my PM400. I added 15 more lists to the original scan list for a maximum of 16.

When I program the radio, it accepts the lists. However, I can't seem to figure out how to select which list to scan. Also, the radio doesn't seem to scan at all even with the original list. Perhaps this is a function of not being able to figure out how to select a list to scan. But when I roll back to the original single scan list alone, the radio merrily scans fine.

Am I missing something?

Radio particulars: Firmware R03.00.03, codeplug 3.0, CPS RVN4191N ver. R05.12

Many thanks,

Daniel

Could it be mode slaved scan with a different scan list possible for each mode, and the selected mode priority?

Poking around, I answered my own question.

It seems that with multiple scan lists, a given "Conventional Personality" (frequency) can only be assigned to one scan list. Not very useful.

And with more than one scan list programmed, the Conventional Personality must have one of the scan lists assigned otherwise the personality is not available for scanning. The default "Scan List" setting is "None". And if all Personalities are not assigned to a scan list, then selection of a scan list does not exist.

Too bad Personalities (frequencies) cannot be assigned to multiple scan lists.

It used to be called mode slaved scan, and it has a purpose. Let's suppose you are a small municipality surrounded by other cities and towns. Your primary channel can be mode 1 with a scan list that includes the four other city channels (modes 2-5) but none of the other surrounding agencies. Mode 6 is the town you cooperate with the most with a different scan list that includes your primary channel mode 1 so you won't miss any calls. Mode 10 is a state channel with a third scan list that has your primary and several surrounding cities, and mode 16 has everybody in the scan list just in case we want to hear all the action.
