Caller ID on XTS5000
Hello-
I have just puchased a used xts5000 to be used on conventional channels. The seller stated that the radio did decode and display mdc ids. I can not get it to work. The "Feature Set" has the following...
H35 - Conventional Systems Opertation
Q806 - ASTRO Digitial Operation
Q446 - Channel Announcement
Q445 - Fireground Accountability Software
There is no G114 which I read is needed to display IDs. Is that correct? If so, how much would adding that to the feature set cost? Would M even sell that one option for 1 radio?
Thanks.

Re: Caller ID on XTS5000
Read and post the host and DSP for your radio. That's the key to figuring out what can and can not be done with you radio as it now stands. Also the flashcode itself, just to double-check what you've already figured out.

I got the info...
Host=12.00.11
DSP=12.00.01

DSP=12.00.01
Re: Caller ID on XTS5000
The seller was full of it. Without H14 ID display in the flashcode, that 5000 isn't going to decode and display any MDC ID's..joes243 wrote:The seller stated that the radio did decode and display mdc ids.

Stupidity creates job security!
If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Yea, I know Marc. Any ideas on how to go about adding this? Is it something a local M shop can handle?
Re: Caller ID on XTS5000
They should be able to, if they will do it is another question. If it hasn't changed ID Display is usually a $75(US) option. The shop would probably tac on for labor.

Thanks. I read on some posts you can get it strait from M. Is that a hard thing to do?
Re: Caller ID on XTS5000
You need to speak with a Motorola dealer who deals with this tier of radio..not the ones that do the mickey mouse moto radios. Ask your local FD/PD's on who services their radios. Those are the people to deal with.
Or
Motorola.com and do the dealer locator.

Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system

I am on the FD and our dealer does the "mickey mouse" radios. The highest end radio I have seen them deal is the Pro series. I have a police officer friend thats department just went to a trunked system and got all new xts5000. I will ask him who does theirs. Should I not even try to get it directly from M?Pj wrote:..not the ones that do the mickey mouse moto radios. Ask your local FD/PD's on who services their radios.
