Recommend any decent RS232 to USB adaptors

Post by wkr518 »

Running on XP/7 here and looking for a decent adaptor. Have tried 3 different types and was not happy with the results and returned them all ( Radio Shack,Staples,Keypan).
Can anyone recommend a model or brand?
I would be using this for CPS and pager programming from a laptop and desktop.
Thanks

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

invest in an older computer with a real serial port, don't use usb on anything that motorola don't make a usb cable for.

This is what I use, and I have several. They work fine with CPS on XP, Vista, and Windows 7, but XP virtual mode under Windows 7 is inconsistent:

But, I also have a computer with a real live serial port. NEVER attempt a firmware upgrade without using a real serial port.

I'll likely take both routes.
A new laptop with RSR232 port and a Adaptor cable ( for the lowend stuff)
Thanks for the infos

If you are talking USB to RS232 serial I use Edgeport products and have never ever had any issues with them working for programming.
