5D core saber - does it support preamble? / alignment questi
Hi all, Just as it says: does the 5D core Saber support preamble? Also-I recently reprogrammed a saber after swapping the motherboard and associated modules into a new frame/housing, and had very "choppy" receive audio with PL enabled, but when programmed for CSQ = no "choppy" receive audio. Sound like a full alignment is in order? Or something more severe is wrong? Thanks. John

any time you change modules its best to do a full alignment
Re: 5D core saber - does it support preamble? / alignment questi
Thanks, sent it in for full service alignment. I wasn't sure only because I swapped the board and all the modules together as one unit, but I guess the change to a new frame (control top) and reprogramming was enough to throw it out of spec.

UPDATE:
ok, saber had full service alignment. Receiving stations report audio very scratchy/ choppy as before. What is goin on??
Moto shop fixed alignment/ deviation/ brought to FCC specs. I'm out of ideas. I'm using a stubby VHF waris antenna and the stations are mostly repeated stations/ remote receivers, and very close by. I'm about to toss this thing.

try with a regular VHF whip stubby antennas are usually not the best ... then it might be someting with TX section itself

Could the problem be the microphone element in the front shield of the radio? Beg or borrow a front shield and make the swap to find out.

Thanks guys, I'm going to try a regular lenght antenna tonight, and I do have spare mic element for replacement. Thanks, J.

Wouldn't it show up somewhere in the alignment/ testing if it were a tx section problem? I'm not familiar with these proceedures. Thanx. J.FireCpt809 wrote:try with a regular VHF whip stubby antennas are usually not the best ... then it might be someting with TX section itself

Thanks Tom, I'm going to try that- I have another front shield front the donor radio. J.Tom in D.C. wrote:Could the problem be the microphone element in the front shield of the radio? Beg or borrow a front shield and make the swap to find out.
