XTS5000 display problems

Post by NIFOG291 »

I work in a relatively busy urban fire department and I have 100 XTS5000 radios in the field. I'm noticing the lines on the display are starting to fail. Is this a common problem? We use the voice announce feature so the display isn't critical. I'm afraid that soon switching zoned may become a problem.

There are several possibilities to why your displays could be going out. There is an FSB out for displays, I'm half asleep here but I think it covers 5000's as well. The FSB is 100076 and is good till 2012.

Another simplier problem could simply be the seating of the socket. Shock pads wear out and even the thick "tape" can also give way. Just need to verify that the display is properly seated.

FSB10076D (Good until 12/31/2012) only covers the XTS 2500, 2250, 1500, and the MT 1500 Platform A radios (AKA "AN").

No XTS5000's covered under this FSB.
