i am using what was a 6 channel maxtrac with an exit button. i simply re programmed it as a 32 channel with scan and the exit button turns the scan on and off. it is where the scan button would be.

I think you may not be reading the software screen correctly. I believe it just shows "EXT" and not exit.
This selection is for use on low band receivers and is for control of the "EXTENDER" feature. It is like a
noise blanker to reduce spike type noise on receive. Could be wrong, but think this is what your looking
at.

Hello:
The model number you gave is a VHF mobile not lo band.
Yes the button on the front of your radio does say exit and not for extender operation.
You can make your unit scan as is by blanking and reprogrammingf with realignment using a service monitor as a minimum for proper operation.
If your logic bd is the 5 pin then it can do 16ch max with scan included.
If you have the 16 pin logic bd with the 24 pin eprom version 5.34 = HLN5569
the you can blank and reinitiate it as a 32 ch with scan / priority scan included.
If you have the 5 pin bd then you need to select which channels you want in scan per the rss programming.
If you do the 16 or 32 ch with the 16 pin bd then you can select the scan channels from the front panel but you need the 5 button front to select channels to scan and priority scanned channels ect.
Or select the per rss and leave as is.
I have a sheet that guides you through the process ect but id need to know if you had a 5 pin logic bd or 16 pin and get you to decide which options you were going for asw it affects the reinitiation of the radios logic bd after blanking ect.
Panel codes are diferent for the various fronts ect as well.
Post back what you have for a logic bd and what you want and ill check back and see if we can get you steered in the corect direction.
Nothing more irritating than to blank and try to reinitiate radio with wrong hardware and get error tone with a non working radio because of a mistake unknown to the person attempting it.
So ill try to save you the headaches i went through years back on this for you.
Its easier than one might think with guidance and if you have access to blanking software and a service monitor.
Not to mention the experience and confidence you gain from doing it and have it work properly as well.
The bd a few years back was full of better than the average techs but things have soured many of them and the help normally doesnt come as easily as it did once but i feel the urge to try to bring some of it back so im gonna help you out if you want it.
All newbie members deserve help as far as im concerned and welcome to the bd.
