M1225 20ch display problem.

Hello:
I have a 20ch M1225 40 watt UHF M1225 that when you turn the radio on the display comes on bright but in about 5 to 10 seconds will begin to fade and will not allow the radio to transmit.
But if you unplug the ribbon cable from it the radio will transmit.
Swapping out the bad 20ch display with a known working display corects the problem.
Anyone run across the fix on the display bd other than replacing ?
And if so what was the fix for it ?

Don't know much about that model radio, but if there is a voltage regulator on the head board I would look at that first.
