Spectra 900 Questions

Hello All,

I am new the board and have a few questions about the Motorola Spectra 900 system. I currently have older scanners for both trunking and conventional scanning. I am just wanting to update to something newer and free up some extra space by using the Renote Control head.

As far as programming goes-

1. I have read some things about the SPectra system, and understand that it does trunking opertaions. However, what if I just want to use this for a conventional system? Just need the basic channels and the 800 + mHz channels. What do I need to get, or who do I need to send this to in order for the system to operate like this and remove the trunking operation?

2. I do not want to end up in trouble using this system. Is it legal for me to own this system as long as I use it for Conventional Scanning only? Can I, or someone else remove the MIC options, and the emergency button options?

Other Questions-

1. Antenna? Can this system run of a BNC connecter much like my current scanner do?
2. Cables? What do I need for power cables and programming cables if I can program this system myself?

Also, Can someone give me some general information on these units? Anything that I will need to know? Again, I want to make sure I rule out any possibility of doing this being illegal. I do understand I will have to keep the scanner out of veiw as well.
