MTR2000 with satellite reciever and spectrTAC comparator

Post by habs »

Looking for some connection info. I have a MTR2000 with a satellite reciever and a spectraTAC comparator for audio voting. I have status tone working from the satellite to the SQM. I am using tone control to key the MTR from a tone keying module. I have worked with other spectraTAC applications, but I am not familiar with the TKM (TRN6095A), and am not sure how to option the TKM to work with the MTR. I am new to this forum, and have read the rules ,however I will apologize anyway in advance if I am not proceeding properly. That being said, if anyone has more familiarity with this than I do, I would be very grateful for the help.

Welcome Habs. If this comparator was used in a tone controlled system before, it should work with the MTR just fine without modification. You need a sqm for the MTR and one for the sat rcvr. The MTR needs to be programmed for comparator operation, and sending status tone to the sqm. Loss of status tone on either sqm should cause the comparator to key the station. Likewise, tone control on the console input should cause the station to key. If your tone remote control can key the station, but the comparator cannot, I would verify what function tone is used. The only option on the tone keying module is JU1 function tone selection - in for 1850, out for 1950. It is almost dead center in the board.

Thank you Bill.

I was a little nervous to proceed, but as you said the spectratac was previously used as a comparator. The connections to the MTR was very easy, with a few changes in RSS. I now have a MTR2000 repeater with a satellite receiver that works great.

Thanks again.
