Too bad I didn't see this earlier this week before we went on holiday. Basically, the IP223 is used to replace a telco wireline with ethernet between the station and the control point. I'll assume you have a dispatch point at one location, and the MTR at a remote site with IP connectivity between the two. The comparator will connect to the first IP223 on one of the radio ports, and the MTR will connect to the second IP223 on one of it's radio ports. You set up the jumpers in both IP223's for 4 wire interface, program them for tone control, set your multicast addresses to match (the defaults should work), and then aim the two at each other in the crossconnect tables. While the IP223 is the most expensive way to accomplish this for a single radio, it does have a second radio port, and will allow you to connect two radios at the remote site to two control points bringing the costs down. If you are on a private, controlled lan, you will need to ensure the routers pass multicast packets. If you are using the public internet, you will need a security appliance to create a vpn between the two points.

I think line 1 is tx and line 2 is rx. I always get them mixed up, and have to correct it.
