Hello,
I am new to Motorola programing and DOS it self. My currant problem is that i am trying to install a second rss program to the hard drive without any luck.
The first program(Saber)install went fine,no problems. Now when i try to install say GP300,i get back a message: usage: INSTALL target_drive: com_port [-D]
The com_port parameter is entered simply as 1 or 2 The -D option causes DEUTSCH.GTX to be copied in place of GP300-5T.GTX If i type: GP300-5T it goes
to the program screen with no problems. I've tried to enter the READ_ME file from the software dir and it comes back Bad command or file name.
I also have the same results when i try to install a Spectra rss program. If i type in: INSTALL.DTA or INSTALL, i get back Bad command or file name.
If i type in: RDPROG it will go to the radio program screen with no problems. I have this same problem on two different 386/25 computers.
I've been a ham since 92,but i am brand new to all of this, including this site. Hope someone can help, thank you.
Dave

Re: RSS WILL NOT INSTALL
The bad command or filename errors are because you are either in the wrong drive or the wrong subdirectory when you type "install". Make sure the file is there by using the "dir" command.
The GP300 should be just a matter of typing "Install C:", which tells the program to install on the computer's hard drive. If you don't do this (or if it isn't specified in the install file), the program will try to install itself on the floppy drive, which is too small, and defeats the purpose of installing on a pc.
If your hard disk is assigned a letter other than C:, you will need to use that letter.

Re: RSS WILL NOT INSTALL
some of those rss programs are not sold anymore, how did you get them? if they are not factory discs that could be your whole problem, there are probablly files missing from them. and you are in real dos when you try to install them right? not in a dos window?
