XTS 5000 Firmware Update

Post by prfd218 »

Hoping not to sound like a complete idiot, but I'm trying to see if anyone on the forums knows anything about having my firmware on my XTS 5000 updated. Basically I was told a iButton flashport upgrade would do the trick and update my firmware on my XTS, also granting me access of the channel announcement feature.

Long Story Short:
I have an XTS 5000 M1 that does not have channel announcement, and would like the feature on there.

Any tips/suggestions are much appreciated! My local shop isn't able to answer these questions :\

In later firmware revisions, Channel Announce became a bundled option... if you flash an older radio up to current (I think anything north of R12), it will change your flashcode by adding the Channel Announce bit.

However, you do have to have IMBE operation enabled for this to work. Channel Announce uses the IMBE vocoder to compress the voice files stored in the radio, so if you have an analog-only radio, it won't function.
