Setting Up Single Channel IR System

Post by W6WAW »

I recently decided to play with Quantar IR single channel trunking. I have the repeater up and running into a dummy load, with the control channel transmitting.

I have done some searching here but haven't found a detailed account of how to set up trunking from scratch -- in the sense of starting with a new system rather than adding a radio to an existing system.

If there is anyone who can assist me with this or point me in the right direction, I would appreciate it.

Many thanks!

As far as I know, you'd program the subscribers just like you were programming them onto any regular system. Yes, you need a system key.

Is this an 800/900 or OBT system? If it's OBT, you'll need to program in frequency offsets and whatnot into the subscribers.

I've not had the pleasure of playing with an IR that wasn't in an active system, so I'm not sure what the programming options are on the infrastructure end. The only ones I've worked with were during PM's and I didn't have time to look through the codeplugs.
