need mts2000 programed

Post by sonmtn »

I bought a mts2000 off ebay and my local radio shop cannot get it programmed. Says the codeplug is removed and their program can't do it. Is there someone that can program it or did i buy a bad radio? thanks

As far as if the radio is bad or not, what does the display show if anything?

Try this. Look at the push to talk button. You will notice on the side above the PTT, 3 buttons. A blue on top, & 2 black underneath it. Turn the radio on, & right after hearing the beep [2 seconds if there is no beep] press the lowest of those 3 side buttons 5 times real fast. The display will show some numbers. Try to write them down, & post them here. You might have to do this a few times as the numbers come out pretty quick. This could help diagnose your problem, as maybe your fleabay MTS2000 is a MT2000 & needs RSS & not CPS. This "service mode" could help you to diagnose your problem. GARY N4KVE

Whose system is it going on? Trunking or conventional? VHF, UHF, 800?
