New to XTS 5k Programming

Post by Squad5 »

I have everything needed to program my XTS 5k except the knowledge to do so. I have never programmed a radio and would like to seek help to do so.

If anyone could take the time to help me or walk me thru it, I would gladly appreciate it. Thank You in Advance

-This is not a request for any program, just simply a cry for help to help me program my radio.

There is a systematic approach to using this CPS and you have to do things in a particular order or you will go crazy...

First write down your channels and what features you want the channels to have, i.e default power, analog or digital, signalling, scan, etc.

For different scan features you first create scan lists to have the scan features you want - priority, user selectable, talkback vs. selected channel, etc.

Once you've created your scan lists then create a personality for the desired channel features. For example, if you are going to have 10 channels that are default high power, digital transmit, mixed mode receive with Astro selective calling features, and with channel selected priority scan that is user programmable then create a personality with these features.

Next say you are going to have 30 channels that are low power, analog only using MDC1200 signalling and no scan then you will need to create a personality for these features.

Once you have created your personalities (and written down what they are) then go into the zone programming and type in your frequencies and assign the desired personality to the frequency.

After you are done then go back into your scan lists and populate the lists as you are wanting.

So the steps are:

1. create desired scan lists - you have to create the lscan lists before you can assign them to a personality
2. create desired personalities - you have to create the personalities before you can assign them to a frequency.
3 create your channels and then assign a personality to it
4. populate your scan lists.

Plan & write down everything first because there is just too much to keep up with "on the fly".
