GP68 - alignment software - is jack plug standard?

Post by g8tzl2004 »

My UHF GP68 is about 1.5KHz off freq.

I have the alignment software and RIB pin outs. I will make a homebrew lead. But I just want to check whether the jack plug used to connect the GP68 to the RIB is a "standard" jack plug or is the tip a unique Moto design. I seem to remember that my SP10 trickle charger jack plug is slightly different from standard - the tip is a bit smaller - so you need to file down a standard jack.

Thanks Will.

I call a P2 plug a 3.5mm mono jack plug :)

The SCI (Serial Communications Interface) socket on the side of the GP68 (ie. a 3.5mm jack socket) is NOT in the center of the recessed hole - so the plug will not fit . I will need to file away one side of the thread on the plug - but I think I might be able to force the plug in as the socket seems to move a bit. Is this safe to do? Is it usual that the SCI socket is not in the center of the recess? Or is it poor HK factory workmanship? Or is the official prog cable very narrow?

You have to have one of the molded plugs. The clearance for the plug's handle is what you are talking about.

Thanks Will - any views on whether I need special dedicated Hong Kong RSS for my GP68. My CP50/GP68 RVN4159A version R04.00.00 just gives "accessing serial bus" - see my question in Radio Programming section - thanks
