Simple question that I can't really seem to find an answer. I am in charge of radios at local rescue squad. We run an MTR2000 base station on simplex. We do not have a repeater.
Do we need to have our MTR2000 send out our station ID every 30 minutes? For some reason a few older members say we don't have to and we have never done it in 50 years. A recent area just got a notice of violation for not doing it but I know they are on a repeater.

Re: MTR2000 ID
It depends on your licence
Re: MTR2000 ID
You should set the station to ID at the end of transmissions not to exceed 15 mins, or 30 mins in public safety.
The station should NOT id unless used, as that will obliterate other radio traffic on the channel.

Re: MTR2000 ID
We are part 90.
90.35A3 to be exact.
And that could be an issue. As we run only simplex there is the chance that a users radio message could get obliterated.

Re: MTR2000 ID
It's fairly cut and dry when it comes to this.
It needs to identify.
That can be either automatic CW every 15 minutes (commercial) or 30 minutes (public safety) while the station is in use
-or-
Whomever is operating the base station needs to verbally identify the transmitter at the end of the conversation every 15/30 depending on which service you're in.
I recommend you just let the CW ID do it's thing. If it becomes an issue, then deal with it then, but your station needs to identify and you are liable if it doesn't.
