Hi all,
I've got an HT1k for a friend that needs programmed. I hooked it up, and it wont read. I tried my case on it, it read twice, switched them back, and now it wont read again. I tried his case on mine, and it reads fine, and with my case it reads fine. I have double checked all connections and they are secure.
Any Ideas?

If your confident that your programming stuff is 100% and there's not an intermittent somewhere causing this coincidence next place to suspect is the flex of the bad radio, that can be intermittent, bend it just right and it works otherwise doesn't.

Re: HT1000 Wont read
I had that happen alot when my FD updated some freqs. The never take the speaker mics off. It had a light film of corrosion on the contacts. I used a pencil eraser on the contacts. 90% of the time it worked. The other 10% took a few passes with a fine brass brush to get it to go. The other possiblit is a small crack in the flex. I also had that happen. I just swapped cases and used my known good case to program that radio
Re: HT1000 Wont read
Ive tried 3 different cases now, and his case will work on any other radio. Now it wont read with any of my other cases on his radio. This one has me baffled. Ill see if I can try another rib and cable set to see if it still does it.

Hmm... Possibly the the flex connector on the controller board going south?

I have to agree with Joe, sounds like the connector on the controller is the culprit. Worse case you can replace the controller and retune the softpots and you're back in action, At our TRW Club monthly Swapmeet, I've purchased surplused HT1000's for about $10.00 and if the guts are good, just swap out the front for yours, and you'll be back in business on the cheap. If you're swapping parts, just be careful and stay away from any that have the black gaskets on the batt contacts which usually means the controller and RF board are soldered and you won't be able to swap parts....

I have a controller from a R split 16 Ch. DN that I can sell you if you end up needing one. Shoot me a PM if you're interested.
