No, but cloning or putting in another radio's codeplug will throw all the alignment way off. This makes the receiver deaf.

Step one, have your radio checked on the bench with a service monitor.
Step two, REALIGN it to factory specs.
Step three... ALWAYS read the radio, change the information, and program that back into THE SAME radio....

I thought using the CLONE function, you only copy external codeplug (user) data not internal (tuning/serial/flash/etc)?
Henceforth why the radios have to have the EXACT same firmware, revision level (and in the case of Flashport) identical flashcodes or a clone will fail?

I didnt use another radio's codeplug...I manually put everything the same as each radio.....Now there is a new twist to this ....I found that the radio DOES recieve only after I push the PTT once...........weid huh?

Do you have smart PTT enabled? On other item may be the option that only allows the radio to receive matched PL/DPL and ignores all other signals.

I used to see this one ALL the time. Now just to remember how we used to fix it without defaulting the radio that is.

Play with the and/or gating rules on the channels. Almost sounds like you have the RX gating set to AND which means you'd have to receive the radios MDC code plus the PL in order to open up. The reason why you get the unit to open on key up is that those units will open to CSQ momentairly upon dekey when there is a QCII or MDC signalling enabled. It's really uncommon and generally not seen but it does occur. Unfortunately I haven't played with a MT2000 in over 6 years so some of this is coming from the brain attic.

Yes sounds like the signaling squelch is set to AND

There is one other possibility, the ASFIC could be a little messed up especially if it's an older version like the A41. However I don't quite think that's it.
