GP340 Fault - Some advice please?

Post by Cyberprog »

Hi All,

Been lurking here for a while, but picked up a GP340 on eBlag a few days ago that was faulty. I've canabilised it for bits for another radio with a faulty flex connector/mic, and volume knob, and pinched the aerial and battery clip, so it's basically cost me nothing against what those parts would have cost!

Sadly, it's deader than a door nail, as is the battery.

I've checked continuity from the battery +ve terminal to the fuse, fuse is ok, and from the fuse to the volume pot. The volume pot if o/c until clicked on, and then closes ok, so I'm suspecting that this is probably all ok.

Does anyone have any ideas of anything else I could test? I have a company who've offered to repair it (Mason Electronics IIRC) for £30+vat, but it'll need a new mic or flex, and a complete new case, which may just make it BER compared to what I can buy another for on eBlag that's working. But part of me says "Repair it, go on, it'll be a waste otherwise"!

Any advice would be appreciated, no LED's on battery attachment/turn on either BTW, so I don't *think* it's a codeplug/firmware issue. No idea how to test if it's actually alive other than the led at startup though.

Cheers,
Alex.
