It's not TRBO/DMR; it's TETRA, which is a Euro digital system not yet in use here though I've read some rumblings about how it should be. I wonder what the person who bought it will do with it, assuming that the auction was sold and not pulled by the seller.

I'm told (though I don't know for sure) that the TETRA radios can be reprogrammed to to digital direct without any infrastructure like P25 or Trbo... Though in that split I wonder where they could use them...
The bandsplit is only a suggestion.

TETRA is a long time coming to the US. It meets 6.25e requirements since it's 4 timeslots on a 25KHz channel. But it will be very expensive to build out, it's designed to work more like a cell network than our typical LMR network, i.e. many low power stations covering limited geographic areas instead of high power high elevation stations trying to cover the maximum footprint. Warren Havens has been pushing for it for a long time. The FCC filing history is a really interesting read.
