MSF5000 Not Keying PA

Post by ve9xf »

I recently picked-up a UHF MSF5000 model C74CXB7106BT and after going through the alignment procedure, found that I couldn't get it to key the PA. The TX VCO locks, however when I key the local XMIT switch, neither the PA Key, PA ON nor the PA FULL lights come on or even flicker momentarily. I can however hear the carrier come on from the exciter, though I have not yet measured the exciter power output. I have a wattmeter connected to the PA and terminating into a 50 ohm load, but no power is coming from the PA. Further, I have set all the RSS setting as indicated on the Repeater-builder website for use with an external repeater controller.

Any ideas on what might be causing this?

Thanks!

Just a follow-up to my original post. There was a Redundancy Module attached to the top of the TTRC and SSCB that was causing the problem. I tried disconnected it from the TTRC & SSCB and voila! everything worked fine.

Cheers!
