MTR2000 and preselector

Post by arlojanis »

I added an external Motorola MTR preselector to a VHF MTR2000 repeater. I have now learned that the MTR receiver contains an internal varactor tuned preselector and it should be jumpered out when using an external preselector to prevent excessive loss. Anyone have a picture or description of how to add the jumper? Anyone using both preselectors and getting good results?

I don't recall where I read it (help screens or a manual), but (at least on UHF) the service procedure mentions tuning the receiver first, then attaching the preselector and tuning that, with the station powered up so there's a proper load on the output of the preselector. I wouldn't expect much more loss from a system with both a tuned RX and a preselector, perhaps as much as 1-2dB.

We've run with both and haven't seen a problem.
