Motorola HT750 Receive?

Post by Mercenary »

I'm not to fimiliar with all of the correct radio terms, so please bear with me, I recently programmed my Motorola HT750, 4 channel VHF radio with version 5 firmware, the frequency with the issue uses MDC1200 signaling on keyup, however my radio will not even pick up the MDC1200 signaling and encode or decode it (whichever is the correct term for when the radio receives the MDC1200 data squawk and mutes the data squawk into a beep thats heard on the receiving radio) with the PL tone on. I still hear the units voice signal just fine, just not hearing the MDC1200 decoded beep at the beginning.

If I place the radio in open squelch, the radio will then receive the MDC1200 signaling and sometimes it will decode it into the proper beep.

Note: another frequency uses MDC1200 on dekey, and the radio receives and decodes the MDC1200 signaling into a beep, everytime.

Could anyone advise if theirs a setting in the CPS that I can change to make the radio unmute audio faster, so that the radio will receive the MDC1200 squawk and decode it into a beep with the PL tone on?

Sounds like the problem you have here is the DOS muting is completely covering up the MDC1200 ID when it hears it before the transmission where as when the MDC1200 is sent after the transmission a small snippit of the MDC noise is making it through (the "beep" you're describing). I should note that just because you are not hearing the MDC1200 audibly when it is transmitted before voice doesn't necesarrily mean that the radio isn't decoding it although I don't know what you're going to be decoding anyways other than call alerts and select calls as the 750 doesn't have a display for decoding and displaying unit IDs.

Having said that there MAY be a way to make it so you can hear the "beep" (which is likely just a snippit of the MDC ID making it through before or after the DOS catches it) you want to by adjusting the DOS Auto Mute Duration field in the CPS.

In the CPS go to Signalling, MDC, MDC Systems, and select the system you are using for your RX signaling. Go to the DOS tab and try lowering the DOS Auto Mute Duration field some and see if that helps.

Thanks, I'll give that a try. Other then that, the radio works great.
