RVS-8 Voter Narrowband

Post by celltech25 »

Anyone know why the RVS-8 wouldn't work with narrowband system, It states on the LDG electronics website that the RVS-8 is not compatiable with narrowband??

I had a ton in service on a 900 MHz EDACS system that worked great. That is certainly narrowband. I did use COR off of my receivers.....

LDG either misunderstands what narrowband means (doubtful), or they have run into enough user equipment issues to make a broad declaration of non-support. It definitely will not work on an AM system. Looking at the schematic, it should work on a 12.5kc system. However, reading the many discussions on the product, it's obvious people have had problems. The choice of receiver is very important. The alignment procedure is critical. The audio inputs are hi z line level making the user responsible for matching their transport (phone line, rf link, ip link) to the voter. If you use the same model receiver at all sites, and this receiver has both a rich high freq content open squelch, and excellent s/n on a fully quieted receive, it should work okay. Combine that with a high quality transport, and align the RVS-8 per some of the experienced users rather than the manual, this voter should work well.
