Build headset interface for PM400

Post by sailor »

Howdy,

I would like to try to build a small interface to allow me to use a motorola HT headset with PM400 mobile. I don't want to permanently change the radio, as I wish to often use the desk mic or hand mic, but want to plug in a headset for noisy environment. How doable is this? Are all the necessary pins available in the acc connector for this?

If anyone has gone down this road I'd appreciate any input!

Thanks
Will

I have done this for Maxtrac/Radius mobiles. The headset/earphone audio is on the mic jack.

For HT headsets you will need a amp/matching circuit to match the mic.

I use a Heil headset on Spectra... Bob Heil said I could not make it work on Motorola radio...

When I met him, I asked him about why he doesn't have a adapter for his headsets for the Maxtrac/MCS2000/etc; I think he was not aware there is audio on the RJ45 jack on this radios because said something about a complicated adapter would have to be made.
