Hello:
I have a M1225 VHF 25watt 4ch mobile that when turned on it puts out full volume at the mobiles speaker regardless of turning up or down the vol sw.
So i figured that changing out the volume control sw would cure the problem but nope didnt help.
I did upon opening up the radio notice that it previously had the solder reworked around the old volume switch and i think the copper path through the bds layers may have been compromised.
I can turn the radio on or off but still have no control over the full output at the speaker itself.
Qestion = Is it possible to have speaker audio through say for example two of the three pins on the volume switch and the third pin for example have no contact within the bds layered circuit that would exhibit this symptom ?
Or is there another component im missing that could cause the volume switch control to put full audio output regardless of volume switch position ?
Thank you

Re: M1225 4ch VHF = Full volume at speaker ?
Yes, the ground pin on the potentiometer is open. Or the ground to the circuit board is open. Common problem.
I just thought, there is resistor from the low side of the volume control in Maxtracs, Radius, and GM300 radios. This may have been cut out.

Hello Will :
I salute you .
You nailed it on the head.
Resistor R557 = 10 ohm is indeed removed.
Thanx a million.
