AS3 Microphonics

Post by Spiffy50 »

Hey gang, hoping someone can help me.

I have an 800MHz M3 Astro Saber that has horrible microphonics to the point of being unuseable past about 50% volume. It has the newest Host & DSP and is programmed with CPS 5.03. I have 3 other AS3s all with the same Host & DSP. I tried every combination of cases/chassis/Vocons/Speakers I could with my 4 radios and every time I got the same results, regardless of what combination I used. I should note this problem does not happen when using a speaker-mic. It is also much worse on a trunked channel than a conventional. It doesn't happen on Astro.

Has anyone an idea what might be up? Its to the point where the radio stays at home 99% of the time now.

You have screws on the VOCON shield, right? All four of them?

Yup. I took the radio apart and re-seated & tightened everything I could. Very little change :(
