Can you tell 5/16 pin from a MaxTrac model #?

Post by YouHF »

Is there any way to tell whether a MaxTrac is 5 or 16 pin from just the model number? Or do you have to physically look on the back? Does it vary among radios with the same model number?

Specifically, right now, wondering for the following model numbers (that I don't currently have in my possession, else I'd just look):
D45MQA5GB5AK
D35MQA5GB5BK
D35MWA5GB7AK
D35MWA5GC3AK
D45MWA5GB6AK

There's a fairly comprehensive list by model number available at Repeater-Builder:

http://www.repeater-builder.com/maxtrac ... odels.html

Though the only way to be 100% sure is to look. I've bought a few radios where the only thing related to the original model number was the sticker on the back!

I have had same radio model number radios have either control board, I think is was a matter of what was available the day they built the radio.

That's what I was afraid of. I did see the list on Repeater Builder, but not all the models I listed show which logic board.

Thanks for the confirmation.

Hello:
I have also found eigther 5 pin or the 16 pin logic bds in same model numbers
but my Maxtrac repair manual does state which logic bd was intended.
According to the break down in my Maxtrac repair manual.
Model numbers both D35 and D45MQA5GB5AK and also the BK will from the factory have a 5 pin logic bd HLN5172.
And model numbers D35MWA5GB7AK / D35MWA5GC3AK both will have the 16 pin logic bd HLN9313.
Model number D45MWA5GB6AK with have the 5 pin logic bd HLN5172.
