Radius M208 option board

Post by VA3XDJ »

Where would I find the option board installed in an M208?

Picked up a D33LRA77A5BK that transmits some kind of 5 tone ID (sounds like select 5)

Since its being used for 2 meters I'd like to disable or remove it.

Thanks

Mike,

Look inside the back of the control head for an add on board or inside the body of the radio on the controller board.

Found it. Thank you!

A board stuck to the back of the LED display inside the control head with a 5 pin connector going to it.

Now I'm curious about it. It used to be used by a cab co and this was their PTT ID (which repeats during TX or on PTT press)

The big IC on this board is an ST 898845 / MK15154N-00 / SIGTEC AD-01 OCT 1986.

which logic board does it have. if it has the 16 pin maxtrac board it can be hacked up to 40 but scan might not function. I do not know how far one can push the 5 pin board.

Just was reading about it on batlabs site.

I'll check it out when I decide to open it again.

As it stands I put my frequencies in and its running flawlessly so far.

It's funny- a local taxi company also runs some odd 5-tone signalling here in Seattle. Their radio etiquette is laughable- always talking over eachother.
