MTS2000 Constant Transmit

Post by KB1OHZ »

I have a MTS2000 UHF "S" split with an issue. The radio worked flawlessly for several months, and now the radio is constantly transmitting. I've tried it with and without a speaker mic attached and still the same thing. The radio just constantly transmits, and you can hear audio like it is an open mic. It acted like this for 2 weeks, seemed to have fixed itself, and is now back to constantly transmitting as soon as the radio is turned on. From what I can tell (without opening the case) the PTT button seems fine however I'm wondering if there is a common fix for something like this.

Thanks,
Mike

First place to look is the PTT popple on the radio frame, they're only taped in place and tend to migrate out of alignment over time.
