Programming Method?

Post by jmfirefighter20 »

Hi Folks-

I am in the process of programing an XTS3000 and I'm wondering if there is a better way to do this. I saw in the CPS that you can import a spreadsheet. So is there a way I could create a spreadsheet and then load it into the CPS for programming?

Thanks,
Josh

You can create a spreadsheet for use in specific windows, like the control channels or the preferred sites, but you can't create a spreadsheet with the whole codeplug in it and copy it in.

Hey, at least you can drag and drop! They are making progress!!! :-P

thats interesting i didnt know you could copy from a spreadsheet, ill have to look into it more. definitly progress out of the 1980's and into the 90's (sarcastic)
im guessing the SSheet would have to have a bunch of different TABS so you dont get data confused on the same sheet.
Id see that import working more for a list of conventional freqs then trunking.

Let me reiterate that you can copy and paste data from a single spreadsheet into the programming software, and let the data "auto-fill".

I use this when adding in control channels. I have a list of control channels for a particular system saved into an Excel spreadsheet. When creating a codeplug, I have to go in and right click and select "Add at End" in the control channels tab until I have the same number of lines, in this case 128. Then I can copy and paste the data from the spreadsheet into CPS. You can't open a spreadsheet in CPS, you need Excel or OpenOffice Calc for that. You need to format CPS to accept your data. If I put in 100 lines in CPS instead of 128, then copy in the data, I will end up with only 100 of my control channels. The spreadsheet simply serves as a medium for the data to save lots and lots of typing.

I've never tried it with conventional channels.
