Narrow Banding a Visar Radio

Post by Radionut54 »

I have been told that certain visar radios are narrow bandable (12.5khz) and that the model number ending in DN indicates narrow band capability. Is this true?

I know that the radio would not be capable of programming on the splinter channels, but I can't find where in the RSS you setup the radio for narrow band.

Can anyone help me with the procedure for narrow banding this radio? It has to be without changing any parts, otherwise it is not still type accepted. (at least that's my understanding)

Thanks in advance for any help.

What radios do you own?: XTS2500, XTS5000, and MTS2000

Correct only DN radios do 2.5 steps. All of them will do 2.5KHz deviation.
In the RSS you set IF bandwidth on each channel under the channel options screen, you have to do it for each conventional channel in the radio.
