TPL/DCS Questions

Post by bedforddawg »

Hi all!
I was looking for some info on PL vs DCS. If a system I have programmed has mostly Kenwood/GE Ericcson units, would using an equivalent DCS code work better for receiving signals?
Currently I have a Motorola HT1250, and some of it is week, and slightly garbled.
I guess my thought is that if I use a DCS instead of a PL, maybe I would have a clearer signal? or is my thinking all wrong?

If I should use a DCS, is there a table out there that would give me the equivalent from PL?
The PL codes I need are 100.0 and 151.4
Thanks!

PL/DPL doesn't make a difference on clarity. Are you sure your radios are all programmed for the proper bandwidth (narrow/wide)?

What radios do you own?: Progreso soup can with CRT

There is no such thing as a "equivalent" PL to DCS, or vice-versa, code. They are completely different animals.

+1

PL and DPL/DCS make no difference in clarity.

Since you mentioned the radio was a HT1250, I would look at the radio being on frequency. While these radios are synthesized, the reference osc will drift over time. If the radio is programmed for narrowband, being on frequency even more important. Have someone check the transmit frequency and set it back on, if needed.
