UHF Astro Spectra suddenly stupid.

Post by stay-con »

After sitting unused in my Jeep Wagoneer for a little over a year, I went to turn on my UHF Astro Spectra and got the following results.
Red XMIT light came on. Amber busy light came on. And it hung. No display, nothing.
I'm using a W7 head for Remote and have the Sysem 9000 PA/Siren unit and 2 DEK boxes cabled up.
Everything was working faultlessly a couple of years ago when I put it all together.

Any quick thoughts on this before I take everything apart and see who's at fault?

Thanks

Jeff

Disconnect everything except the head and radio (ie, siren, deks, etc). See if that solves it. Then you know where to start looking. After sitting a year could be a power issue as well. Check all connections, test voltages, etc. Check the grounds too.

what about those time bomb caps? if that radio has been sitting that long, it could be a possibility.

Just a follow up on this.
For some reason I hadn't gotten around to attaching power and ground to the System 9000 PA/Siren unit.
Once I connected that, it's all happy again.
