VIP pinout for hornring input on Spectra

I'm trying to wire up the horn ring to the control head to enable the air horn to be used through the Spectra 9000. I can not find the pin out anywhere showing that.

Also, if using a DEK, and that pin is used for the DEK, can it be tapped in?

Don't know guys. All that I know is that a radio tech at this one shop knew how to use it. He could actually decode DES with it, and it took him around half an hour to do so.

I know about and understand the complexities of the encryption, but we all know that Motorola's not going to do something ...

I also got bent over the desk by these guys... to a point.

I got a KVL that was "Taken out of working service" as well. However, got it, hooked up the battery, DOA. After trouble shooting, I found a bad battery / fuse section (broken).

Wrote them about it, got no reply. Then I had a brain storm ...

Why change the switch? Just pull the knobs, pull the sticker, change the position of the stop.

Most of the 6 channels have the 8 position switch installed with the stop to keep it a six.

If you're really ambitious... I would not and have not done this, but have heard of it being done.

Locate your mounting location, drill a small hole through the glass (done by a windshield type shop), mount the internal piece. this is where I've heard two different thoughts.
1) put a piece of ...

If you're thinking about going down the road that I think you are... save your money.

The Motorola encryption system works on a system of 16 digit/ key characters. It's an 'all or nothing' deal. If you have 15.5 of the 16 digits, you're not going to be able to decode the signal.

This is the beauty ...

Double check your ground. Sometimes even when the mic clip is grounded... the radio's not happy with it. May need to run a specific ground.

Also, If you have acces to it, I've had better luck using the "M400" software to program the Maratracs.
