Re: Kent County, Michigan fire paging tones Programing M 5

The user format will let you enter your A & B tones. They won't show up as exactly the frequencies that you entered, but the Min V will alert OK. As long as the displayed tones are within 1.5% of what you entered everything will work.

Re: Sample DB down mathmatics?

All you need is a handheld calculator. Just do 10^(-dB/10), move the decimal point in the result two places to the right to get percent and you've got your answer. Example: 10^(-10/10) = .1, move the decimal to the right two places and you have 10%. Another example: 10^(-30/10) = .001, moving the de...

Re: Harmonic filter tuning after Circulator

Unless you have a special filter, usually they're just a lowpass filter with only one tuning adjustment and not a real sharp rolloff. I would tune it so that the loss starts to increase at 40-50% above your 222 Mhz frequency. Then you should have minimal loss at 222 Mhz.

The main thing with audio transformers is the turns ratio - impedance ratio is the turns ratio squared, so a 1200 ohm to 600 ohm transformer would have a turns ratio of (sqrt (1200/600)) or 1.414 to 1. And the voltage ratio is the same as the turns ratio. Now, a transformer will reflect an impedance...
