It's possible it is saveable, sometimes they can be brought back by loading a cp back into it, or....forcing one into it if need be.

Ok, here's the skinny on this radio.

When I received it, I read the CP, first thing I notoced is a whored out
Flash and that it says it had been hit with depot.

I voiced checked it, radio was around 7Mhz off......wow!

I did a test on my aeroflex, the radio failed everything except the BER RX.

Reference oscillator took the changes. I even set it off from the test freq and tried that one time. That made no difference on how far off freq the radio transmitted from the programmed freq.Receive is right according to my svc monitor.

It has to do with the shielding on the display itself. I fiddled with a 800Mhz display on a vhf radio, with RF getting into it, it was very quirky. IIRC the C04 is a universal display as of now for all bands.

Lock code will need entered via the keypad, CPS will be able to read the radio and turn that off, unless, it is password protected, then a hex editor or other methods may need to be used.

I'm pretty sure that if you just dump in any old srec you will get toolproof error. You have to save the original and guard it with your life.
No one here seems to be interested in these radios and their problems anymore. Their afraid of ol ma M !!

It would depend on the FW that is in the radio ...

No key is loaded, load the key and you should be good to go.

You may try highlighting the system id, then deleting it with the delete button, then restyle the system key in,
See if the problem goes away. I think the last release of cps for the xts/xtl has some bugs.

Strange thing,

Actual TX on programmed freq of 166.125 shows 166.133 on a cheap optoelectronics freq counter. Another freq of 166.000 shows 166.006

Various freqs across the full range (150-167) are mostly correct, some are not.

I reprogrammed 166.125 to 166.115 and now tx's on 166.123.

I changed a box of q splits to r splits several years ago and hex edited the crap out of them, they worked great, not what I would call super hard to do. I only did it because I was challenged that it couldn't be done. It took longer to align them than the mods did, just and FYI.

I answered my own question by re-reading your post. Are you using a flash dongle, or just trying to do it the dirty way?

I do have earlier CVN files, but they are large, I could possibly flash the FW on the radio for you.

What cable are you using? IIRC, a serial cable is needed to flash the earlier FW.

As long as they are -O- series XTL's, and you have newer firmware in the heads, they should plug in, I believe you will need to change the mounting bracket as well as the screws for the sides.

Astro Spectra heads will work, not regular Spectra heads, you will also need a TIB with dual DB25's on it.

$485 or close to that for flat rate. I have had success bring them back using the port on the rear of the brick, some I have had to use a serial cable on, others a usb.

If you have a saved cp, you could try dumping it back in.
