Headlight flasher ? Grand Am

Post by fireman1417 »

I have a Sho-Me model 03-0129 headlight flasher that I removed from my truck and want to hook up in a 96 Grand Am. The car has DRL and automatic light system. How do I tell if its pos. switched or neg. switched and how to make it work with the DRLs, etc. One side has a black and a green wire, the other side has a blue and a green wire. Does anyone know what wires to cut and connect to outputs from the flasher and what wire to connect into the flasher?

Here are the installation instructions incase you do not have them.

I couldnt find a wiring diagram for you, but I would goto AutoZone and find a Haynes Repair Manual for your car. You can see the wiring diagram there. :)

The Grand Am uses a reverse polarity system and could possibly have DRL. If DRL equipped, you will have a 5+ VREF signal that needs to be fed into the the PCM when the wigwag is active. At the same time, you need to 'trick' the PCM into thinking that the 'flash-to-pass' lamps are activated. Same as Cavalier.

Use a reverse polarity+DRL flasher for these cars. You'll also probably need a Bosch relay.
