HI:

The Depot works " Very Well "

You can get the Depot number from 1-800-422-4210

I do not remember the number since I do not
use them all that often.

Get a Form, fill out the required fields, send
your radio in, and in about 1 ~ 2 weeks, you
will get your radio back like new, and be prepared
for a hefty bill sometimes in the 279.00 ~ 379.00
range depending on the radio.

Many here on the board can fix radios @ a considerable
savings depending on what needs to be repaired.

Also make sure there is no sign of any water damage in the radio. They sent mine back claiming water damage when I had seen the inside and there wasn't a spot. If possible take pictures of the insides for proof.

Motorola Flat Rates

Post by DJP126 »

The flat ratee "structure" depends on the depot that you are dealing with. For instance, the Test Equipment Depot has one rate for calibration only, one for repair and calibration (may or may NOT include CRT replacement depending on model) and another rate CRT replacement with repairs and calibration. None of these cover major physical damage.

And, you have the Motorola Systems Center Repair facility (in Schaumberg) that has an hourly rate on the DIU that runs $275/Hr. I believe the rate on the Quantar is similar, if not the same. Haven't had the "pleasure" to need my Quant repaired, yet...

Send radio to Motorola, bend over (it's gonna hurt), get back radio that
usually looks great and usually works better than when sent in but not always.
(Sorry- couldn't resist).

Seriously, I've sent in a few, they all worked fine when I got them back (someone on the board here reported sending his radio in a few times with the same problem don't know what his outcome was). Not all I got back were newly housed, might want to make sure it's cosmetically challenged before sending it in so you get the new cosmetics but don't overdo it to the point of physical damage which they won't flat rate.

Yeah, I don't know what it is with Schaumburg, but it looks like $305 covers just about every portable made. Have not had to Depot a mobile yet. $305 and a couple of weeks later and you've essentially got yourself a new radio. But, BEWARE! as far as I know, they will not "flat rate" radios that are no longer supported, e.g. HT600, MT500, etc.... And can you believe the HT1000 is on the chopping block? :o
