Well I know in my saber II it does the "power up beep" if you turn it on, and someone is already TX'ing on it (like the weather channels) other than that I turned it on, and ....thats it...no beep. Anyone elce have anything to add?

Never heard a Saber II beep, on power up! (or turning it on) The Jedi series does! (and that can be enabled/disabled) Ed

If you radio has an 5D-core, is won`t do that. You need at last an 6D core for this feature.

Joe, power up beep is only available on the European version of the Saber, it is the MX3000. Looks just like a saber with more bells and whistles!

Joe , I hope you are enjoying that Saber, it was a good radio for me.Take care.

I looked and look through my Saber RSS book last night and could not find this info. Amazingly a Saber1 I had ordered came in today and it had this option enabled. I never could have found this otherwise!

Power up Beep is a function of the RSS Option H432 - "VP Capaple Only"

The Saber1 that I just acquired does indeed "BEEP" on power up. Option H432 will enable this.

The Saber1 I have is a 5D Core version and the Model Number is H44QXN7139CN with a secure bypass module installed.

Always learning something I did'nt know before with this Saber!

Hey Ed,

Food for thought.....What if you programmed yours as a Secure Capable "QXK" Saber. The H432 option might appear then. Not too sure about that though........I try to stay away from any of the encryption options since I don't really have a need for them.

I know some Saber Users that like to program theirs for Secure just to hear the beep when you first press the PTT.

A "Reverse Roger BEEP" I guess! .. 10-4

Hi Eddie! I really don't need the beep. I was just as surprised as Frank (10-95) in all these years. That there was one! I just use it for whats left over for work, very few 460Mhz. freqs. are left since we moved up to 800Mhz. (they issued me a xts3000r a year ago) The rest for ham-radio. I also don't need the encryption options either. I have to work on an MT2000 VHF 160ch. I bought, starting tuesday nite. But thanks for the reply! Next time I hook up the saber, I'll see if it works? 73's Ed

All right on the MT2000 there ED. I saw one of these at a Hamfest this past summer and really did like the looks of it.

Alphanumeric Labeling and the LCD display looked good and DTMF keypad too. I recall there are some MT2000 versions that have the LCD viewable from the top. Not too sure why they made the two differnet versions though. Looks like there is a good availability of accessories on e-bay for that series.

Let us all know what you think of it when you have had a chance to play around with it.

Yea! The Jedi made Top displays & front. Who knows why? Mine is a front display with full keypad! Its in great shape. But the last owner used toolproffing on it. So I got to figure out what he did. 160ch. VHF 136-174Mhz. And Alphanumeric Labeling, I'm at work now..gonna start on the MT2000 tonite! I'll keep ya posted. thanks for the response! Ed
