Post by ZebraRadio »

Does the XTS5000 retain its encryption key after reading the radio using the RSS? What about after re-programming? Tks

If its like the RSS for Astro and XTS3500, in the radio wide option, there is the option when you can enable Infinite key Retention, and no, it will not lose a key after you program, and does not lose reading it either.

Then again I could be wrong, maybe they changed on the XTS5000, anybody know if they changed it? if not, you shouldnt have any problem with losing the key if you have infinite key retention

Nope they didn't change it. You still have infinite key retention in the secure pages of the CPS but you can still over-ride it by holding in the side violet monitor button and simultaneously pressing the top orange button to erase all keys.

I realized that if you enable the infinitive key retention feature and the password feature as well it ereases all keys when reading/writing to it. I tryed it on my ASIII but think it goes for the xts series as well but cannot be absolutely sure about the xts due to the fact that I havn´t tested any xts radioes secure features yet.

When turing on the ASIII you have only one chance to get the password right. Once the violet butten is pressed it ereases all keys if it dosn´t pass thru the password lock and the radio seems to be dead. The display back light can´t be turned off and niether can the radio. Only chance is to disable the battery then put it back on insert the right password and keyload it again because it says "key fail"!
