Tundra install

Post by Richard Collier »

I just Installed a vhf remote mount 110 watt spectra in my new Toyota tundra and Enjoyed it. I went with a A7 remote head and mounted it from the overhead console between the mirror and the console. It is a double wall roof in the front of the console and plenty of room for screws ect. You have to watch out for the padding, looks like carpet padding wants to wrap the drill bit, be careful of that. I ran the control cable up under the headliner there is a hump for the consloe that the cable can be ran in and then accross to the passenger side and down inside the window molding and along the dash. It takes a while to do so you do not mess up the molding. The radio fits nicely under the passenger seat and the carpet was precut from factory for the electric seat, run the control cable in there.
The antenna cable was routed down the inside of the head liner down in the moulding on the side of passenger rear seat and under the moulding by the two doors along the factory cabling to the passenger seat to the radio. There is a lot of things to take off to do this. The courtsey light, both sun visors and roof mounted center console, along with winshield molding on passenger side, molding on the floor and molding on the rear passenger seat on the back side. For the antenna measure 1ft from the rear cab brake light it is double wall up to that point and then drill your hole. and do not forget to run 1/4 inch wire loom on the antenna cable just to protect it the full lenght, as well as your other cables.Any questions just PM me. this is the only Tundra install I have seen on this thread. Rich Collier I must say It looks good, BE CAREFUL OF THE LEATHER SEATS PASSENGER SIDE MUST BE REMOVED FOR RADIO INSTALL DUH.
