I have an HT750 VHF that emits a steady beep to be best described. I get power up double beep and light, but then goes into steady tone which sounds a little garbled. I can read code plug but get a write error when trying to write to radio. Radio does not TX. A little background. Radio was on my side no adverse problems just started beep. Tried new batt. and reseating ribbon cable. Thanks in advance for your help.
Thanks,
David

I think the steady tone you are getting is probably because the radio failed it's power up "self test" routine. It sounds to me like maybe you have a uprocessor-type issue. If it won't write a codeplug, and if it is in fact not passing the power up tests, then I would say that you have a pretty critical hardware failure somewhere in the heart of the radio. I know that we don't attempt to replace any of the chips on the Motorola boards, but maybe someone else here, like Monty, does. If you can afford it, I would say send it to the depot, and have them fix it. Motorola's flat rate repair pricing for the HT 750 is $215.
Just a though!!!!
Just a though get another HT750 read it, then write that info to the radio giving problems.

HI:
Although I am down to componet level repair
on these radios, its not feasible even for me
to replace any of the VLSI chips !
I have done a few, and that was enough for me.
I am more than happy to take a look at your
radio ( as time permits ) however, even I now
have a pretty fair back log 2 ~ 3 weeks minimum.
So, Motorola may be your best bet ! , I can definately
vouch for them, and they have resources far exceeeding
what I will ever have.
And they only take a week or Two.....If you need a
depot form, I can fax you one on request..
